Andre! Another Tabakov fan :)

I very much like what I have heard of his music - angsty, severe, ominous, turbulent, and thoroughly enjoyable from what I have heard over the last few months. Would be good to hear your reflections as you hear these :)

I have vol 3 (symphony no 4 etc) and have commented briefly on it in the WAYL2 thread in October 2019. It was certainly good enough to warrant consideration of the other discs, but the series had gone up in price, so I didn't buy more. Until last week that is, thanks to JPC's current sale.  :)

You inspired me to listen back to back today - #5, #2, and #6. All of them really enjoyable works. Not a dull moment in any of them, for me.

Ionisation is a chamber work, so I guess we'll consider it a bonus on an Orchestral Works disc  8)

That excellent disc also contains Un grand Sommeil Noir, a mélodie for voice and piano, and Density 21.5, a solo flute piece. Anyway this is the disc that got me into Varèse.

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Oh man, Mein Herr und mein Gott from this album will make you weep.

And the Symphony No.3 disc you got is great. Enjoy, John!
