Outstanding, Mapman - happy listening! You've made out very well from that book sale. Friends of the Seattle Public Library used to (maybe they still do?) had a biannual book sale, and they at least had a few good classical CDs on offer for cheap. Nothing like what you've encountered, though!

I've gone to book sales for close to 10 years now, and this was by far the best. (Probably the best I'll ever see, too.) I'd normally be happy to find 5 or 10 interesting CDs, not 200! What surprised me even more (and somewhat saddens me), is that I went on the first and last days of the sale. Almost everything was still there on the last day, which means that nobody else in the area wanted that music. (Or they already have it, but that seems unlikely.)

I'd encourage everybody to visit their local library or other book sales, since you never know what sort of out-of-print stuff will show up. One of my favorite finds before this year was this Wagenaar disc. (Of course, another copy was available at the sale last week!)

It's a rarity of a disc indeed. Nobody would have thought that Chailly and the RCO had ever performed this stuff.

These two discs from CPO are not bad half either:

Bought late last night:

Hat-tip to Kyle for the Poulenc. I don't think I own a complete recording of Les Animaux modèles unless the Prêtre recording is of the full ballet. I'll have to double check.

Edit: Okay, the Prêtre is only 20 minutes, so it's the suite.

Finally pulled the trigger, taking advantage of the discount offered at Madrid's Book Fair (bought this at the Spanish Education Ministry's stand):

The hardcover book includes the 2 original LPs housed in the inside of the front and back covers, respectively, and the 2 CDs (with the same content as the LPs) come in a separate jewel case.

The book is profusely illustrated with reproductions of the manuscripts (the El Escorial codex) and includes what seems like interesting essays and background information, and translations of the archaic Galaico-Portuguese texts (which are not 100% intelligible for modern Spanish speakers)

The performers are Música Antigua de Holanda led by Nelly van Ree Bernard.

Pre-ordered the Diabellis on CD, otherwise went with another big batch of downloads from Qobuz.  I have new recordings to listen to through at least sometime in July now.

My very first box. I'm looking forward to listening to it after a stressful week.

By the way, I love your top 5 composers signature, Mirror Image. Those are some beautiful paintings!

I'm just surprised at the lag time between UK and US release dates.

Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 9 are the highlights of that set IMO.

I have one CD from that set (with 5 and 9, IIRC), and it's been dangling on my wishlist for years, so I decided to go ahead and get it finally.

Especially since it has already been available in streaming in the US.  I listened to that album weeks ago.
