Yes, bordering the boring.

We are heavily in need of more CDs dedicated to Busnois' chansons. The only other I can recall is Rifkin's old effort. I prefer him to Asteria even if Rifkin's singers are a bit amateurish.

Breaking my no CD rule mainly out of fear that this set will be going OOP like the John Adams Nonesuch set  (which I also own):

There are about 7 or 8 discs in this set that I don't own. There will be a good bit of music that is new to me as well. If Nonesuch comes out with a Philip Glass set, I can safely pass on that one as I already own all of their releases for this composer.

Oh, don't worry my dear, @Kalevala this isn't going to be a normal occurrence. I'm in full control --- I promise! ;D

Schnabel's mammoth (46 minutes in this reading !) and Eduard Erdmann's solo violin sonatas.

I have another version of Schnabel's massive score, but Ingolfsson is a superb violinist of the younger generation and of course it will be in modern sound. I have symphonies and other works by Erdmann (much recommended), but this will be a new work for me to explore.

Dubois is the reincarnation of the baroque haute-contre voice. Not a countertenor, simply a high tenor with a free head voice and full access to throaty tones. A Nadir with a Roméo waiting in the wings. All tracks are from baroque French composers.

I always find it slightly amusing when something is described as "lost" when it's being published...

I guess it would be better than the honest "how long can we milk Richter for?"

It seems like DGG is doing a series.

In the Serkin case 'lost' meant [IIRC] "finally got the family to approve releasing them".

Yes, with the subtitle "this is the stuff we never released before because at the time we knew it wasn't quite as good as the stuff we did release, but this is easier than doing something new".

Of course the commercial intentions are evident. But all the same I suppose the recording has some interest. Similarly with the Serkin lost tapes. So I'm going to purchase both CD's.

Love that work. Mackerras and the Staatskapelle Dresden should be a good ticket.
