Well, look what arrived on my doorstep this morning. Unbeknownst to be, it just also happens to be Igor's birthday today.

On JPC today looking for some bargains - picked up the recordings below each roughly half priced - V.19 of Spanyi's 20 CD set of CPE's KB concertos, now have about three-quarters of those discs; and a couple of 2-CD sets of Beauty Farm (been waiting for some of those to come down in price!).  Dave

Normally when I read a review and it recommends a definitive recording; I sometimes break down and purchase it.  90% of the time I am disappointed.  The recording is not much better than the recordings I already have.

I recently viewed Dave Hurwitz's recommendation for the best recordings of Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony.
Since this one of my favorite symphonies, I broke down and purchased it.  Wow, what a performance.  Do not let the fact that it is a mono recording discourage you.  What a fantastic performance
