Some very good performances of the 9th, Philo ! The Delman and Güller in particular challenge interpretive tradition.

It finally happened. Vivaldi album number 71 did not have a cardboard case. I flipped the coin and this time it was tails.

Possibly it frees me to deliberately get "cheaper" copies of numbers 72 and 73 that don't have a cardboard case? I haven't decided.

Edit: otherwise it's a good copy. First, it turned up. Second, nobody has torn any languages out of the booklet.

A most bizarre cover for the following program, which consists of works for solo violin . The main repast here is the three solo sonatas by Khandoshkin, known in his time as 'The Russian Paganini':

- Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) : Rezitativ & Scherzo-Caprice, op. 6

- Ivan Khandoshkin (1747-1804) : Sonate pour violon seul n° 1 en sol mineur, op. 3 n° 1 - Sonate pour violon seul n° 2 en mi bémol majeur, op. 3 n° 2 - Sonate pour violon seul n° 3 en ré majeur, op. 3 n° 3

- Niccolo Paganini (1782-1840) : Capriccio n° 14, Capriccio n° 24

- Eugène Ysaye (1858-1931) : Sonate pour violon seul en la mineur, op. 27 no 2

Excellent harvest  :)  Yes also the Bach passions!

Nice hall. But my only bad eBay experience was with World of Books. Hopefully you get everything you're meant to get!

Just bought:

Sometimes, when you can save over $100 by going without a cardboard slipcover, you go without a cardboard slipcover. FOR NOW. Come back in 2028 to follow my quest to obtain "proper" copies of the 18 volumes I don't have as stand-alone and cardboard-covered...

----------------

This leaves only one old/rare one to get, the Concerti per due violini. Lowest price copies I know about are just over A$200... and one of those doesn't even have a cardboard slipcover.

Ordered from them a few times before directly off their site, and it went ok. Fingers crossed it continues!

I couldn't resist this 5 cd set of Grétry's music from Musique en Wallonie: 3 operas (all the musical numbers minus the dialogues), string quartets and assorted stuff.

D.804 ('Rosamunde') and D. 112. The latter will be entirely new to me.

I've bought hundreds of bargain priced used CDs from Wob and been very satisfied.  On the odd occasion when there was a problem they resolved the issue to my satisfaction.  The only downside to their service is the flimsy packaging they use for shipment.  I just keep a supply of jewel cases to replace the ones that arrived cracked or broken.

I've bought 2 things from them, one was the wrong edition and they disavow any accuracy on editions in breach of eBay policies. They then misled me on eBay return policies, I had to get eBay to step in to get any money back and I was still out of pocket.

Partly this is because they respond with no regard to the fact that they are dealing with you on eBay rather than their own website. But the accuracy of what you're getting is something they won't promise even on their own site. I've seen plenty of complaints on eBay from people about things where which version of something you're getting clearly matters.  There are signs they are sloppier about this than some other large sellers. A different edition of a book or album is a different product with a different code number, and they just don't use that data. Same title, same artist? Good enough.

I haven't had that problem with Wob, but repeatedly so with Momox. Even when the flimsy envelope is not ripped, the cd cases are invariably cracked or the central prongs broken. The only reason I persist dealing with them is that they have a huge base of desirable stuff at unmatched prices - like 2-3$ for a 20-30$ item.
