Just bought:

Having listened to the Berlin Classics recording which contained Symphonies 5, 6, & 8, I had to get more as that CD only wetted my appetite! I didn't care much for Metzmacher's EMI cycle, so I'm really looking forward to these performances.

Superb choice, superb performances -- to this day.

Strauss operas by Solti
Been wanting this since it was announced, been knowing I needed to own at least a couple of these operas since before I'd even listened to any opera.  Amazon (MP) price dropped by another ~$8 and I hit the switch, shazam.  Hat-tip, Sarge.

It's all good but the FROSCH, Elektra and Rosenkavalier I especially love. Mind-boggling price. Wow.

Arrived this morning: Atterberg's Cello Concerto; and Inkinen's Sibelius 4 & 5 (not recommended by Brian  :D )

Ok. Give me an example of good frequency response and impedance.

Good frequency response: flat with slow decay with frequency for diffuse field compensation.

Good impedance: Depends on what drives the phones (complex issue)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Haydn Op. 20 by Ulbrich-Quartett
FYI'ness: Mandryka spoke of these recordings of Op. 20 in superlatives; on page 237 of the Haydn Haus thread, he provides links to the whole Op. 20 in a Denon 2cd (available from Japan via Amazon MP for not cheap but not arm/leg) and also a link to the #1-3 volume of this Berlin Classics (?) issue.  I just went with this one because I found it new for less than $5.

Vaughan Williams by Boult (Decca mono cycle, 5cd)
Hat-tip, Sarge.  Just to get a little deeper into him after being knocked out by the portion of the EMI big box that I've actually listened to, and also to a couple other great things: that chamber disc on Hyperion w/String Quartet #2 and 'Lake in the Mountains', plus Previn's famous #5 (Telarc).

Speaking of which, did you get yr Hogwood Haydncoffin yet, Karl?  I figured you woulda bragged about it, though if you did I missed it in the Haus-shuffle.  You are in a major metro and I am waaaaaay out in the stix, where Haydn is whatever I say he is to whoever listens to me talk about him.  It is awesome.  I say regional demagogy all the way.  It's you and me, country vs. town.  I will brag about that damn box, right here-------->*

Great acquisition, Q! AFAIK it's the only recorded version of the triple concerto currently available on PI.

I love those old "Editio Classica" covers.  :)

Thanks, I can't wait for the 1st listening! :) Amazing it is still the only recording on period instruments - perhaps Schoonderwoerd will do us the honour?

Purchased this Rameau opera today - I first got the cheap reissue, but that was without libretto. And for that reason I changed my mind - in my experience buying a French Baroque opera without libretto is pratically wasted money...it is all about the texts...
So I returned it (unopened) and ordered at Amazon this original issue "liked new" which seems new but without cellophane.

Quite happy with my decision. 8)

I hemmed.  I hawed.  At $86, shipping included, I bought.  I have precisely 1 duplicate out of 60 discs (Haydn's last three quartets, if you must know).  Hopefully, the vendor comes through.
