I have listen to this disc, yesterday evening, and although the score is crystal clear, the tempi are rather on the slow side, and too deliberate, in my ears nothing new was emerging. A traditional performance, not very exciting.

We're talking about Kopatchinskaja's Beethoven here, right? I'm not ready to give a full review but I definitely won't call it "deliberate" or "traditional," though of course those are subjective terms. "Slow," however, is measurable. Among my collection her tempos are faster than most, with only Vera Beths (my favorite) being faster overall. I don't own Zehetmair (a popular choice here on gmg) but based on samples his tempos are very close to Kopatchinskaja's.

"Sprightly" is the word that comes to my mind for Kopatchinskaja.

Well my ears are differently attuned, lets keep it at that. :) I called it this way, because after listening to it, that was my impression. Almost 40 years of listening to classical music, I've heard a few performances, and this one is artistically sound, but internal movement, apart from the tempi plays a role, in me considering this a traditional and deliberate performance. So I hold my ground. ;D
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Yes! You've hit the nail on the head: Kopatchinskaja's most similar to Zehetmair; I have both and while Z is my top choice, K is basically the "if you don't or can't have Z" - especially given how much their readings agree.

I like Kopatchinskaja too, but I recall when I heard this disk for the first time I was a bit surprised because Herreweghe's conduction sounded a bit heavier than I had expected.

Weil's orchestra, on the contrary, sounds always light and alert and combative.  :)

J.S. Bach: PREMIUM EDITION (Cascade, 40cd)
In spite of the tacky title and terrible graymarket appearance, I got this on the recommendations of Gordo and Premont, mainly for 13 discs' worth of Christine Jaccottet's hpschd playing.  I found it at Amazon US-MP for $20+shipping, and I though it was probably worth it for Jaccottet if nothing else.

Premont provided a helpful set of comments and contents.  I am assuming that 'Amado' and 'Cascade' are one and the same, based on previous discussion of the set at GMG.

QuoteHere is the content of the Amado classics 40 CD Bach box

Some of the names are faked, the organist "Otto Winter" e.g. is Miklos Spanyi
The ensemble who plays the Brandenburg concertos is as far as I have been able to detect members of the Hamburg Philharmonic orch,  conducted by  Gabor Ôtvös,
whereas I have neither been able to detect the names of those who play the orchestral suites nor the violin concertos.
The harpsichord concertos are played by Eberhard Kraus and the anonymous string ensemble is conducted by Kurt Redel, who also plays one of the harpsichords in the concerto for 3 harpsichords.

However most of the names are real and their recordings are real. This is true at least of
Christiane Jaccottet
Ester Sialm
Ivan Sokol
Victor Yoran
Conrad von der Goltz
Dubravka Tomsic
Hugo Steurer
Zuzana Ruzickova
André Gavrilov

It is obviously a box one must have because of the many Jaccottet recordings: I acquired the box for about 35 Euro even if I ovned all the Jaccottet recordings in their original Intercord release.
Many of the other recordings are nice but not mandatory additions for completists like me.

Ewa Podleś: RUSSIAN ARIAS [w/Philharmonia of Russia dir. Constantine Orbelian] (Delos)
After enjoying their Handel arias collaboration very much.

I once saw Ewa Podleś live (La fille du regiment) and good lord, that woman is a force of nature. One of the most extraordinary voices on the planet. She played the Marquise, a sort of music teacher, and at one point randomly burst into "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle" from Carmen, and that was just as amazing. I think she can sing everything.
