I know, you praising this one swayed it instead of the Van Nevel version  :blank:  ;D

I have also wish-listed their Vaet, Monte & Regnart for later...  0:)
It's almost two years since I got that disc and I still haven't bought more of their recordings.  :-X

Cosi bel do

I've wanted this for the 1936 performance of Beethoven's 4th concerto by Serkin for a long time. And I don't think there's any other available release.

Thanks to Moonfish's tip (as well as to his detective work on where to get this affordably  :)--Deutschland this time):

Maria Tipo's Bach, with Starker doing the cello Suites and Martzy the violin Sonatas and partitas as an unexpected bonus...

Yes, I started reading Rosen's books (very interesting) and was also impressed by your positive posts about the recordings. Of course, I do have a tendency to be impulsive in regards to classical music purchases...   ;)

Well, it's a quid pro quo of sorts... your comment prompted me to get Tipo's Bach, I helped you go for Rosen (who also plays some great Bach)  :)... this "impuslive" thing rings a bell...  ;)

Ah, what the hell.

This looks like an interesting exploration you have started. I'm so happy with the Barenboim recording that I didn't try many others yet: Maria Grinberg (uninteresting to me), Chamayou (4 LoW on his Mendelssohn disk), and Gieseking (I find the Lyric pieces in this set great, the Mendelssohn less).

EDIT: Shani Diluka's LoW also were mentioned often when they were released, but I never heard them.

Just bought for $3 (including shipping):

The only duplication in this recording that appears in the Collector's Edition on EMI (Warner now) that I own is the performance of Sinfonietta. Our Hunting Fathers and Quatre Chansons Françaises are new performances to my Britten collection.

I think it's time for the next volume of Bach Cantatas by BCJ/Suzuki. The R. Strauss has been on my wishlist since it was released.

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural

Also bought this today:

Lots of good stuff here: Enescu, Kurtag, Ravel, Ligeti. There's something about seeing a cimbalom being used that gets me excited. :)

A very good choice, in my view one of the best sets around. Mind you, I did not expect that when I first bought it, not being a great admirer of Haitink.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.
