This looks a very good deal to me, 10 cd's for 30 euros for a limited time. Anyone to enlighten me about these recordings?

Some of the recordings seem to me possibly a reissue of the series Letzbor and his ensemble did on the Italian label Symphonia, called " The Sound of the Cultures: A Musical Journey Through Baroque Europe".
You got some of those, as I recall?  :)

Pan Classics has reissued recordings on Symphonia before.

Correct I have a few of them, I think 3.
A good buy I think nevertheless.
Thanks Que!

Sadly, one of the major distributors of classical CDs and DVDs in Spain seems to have gone out of business, so the local FNAC is offering most of their products at cut-rate prices... I went for this, which looks appealing:

This is a film of what I understand were the first performances of the opera in Austria (the two-act version, of course)...The cast and conductor are appealing (I've always liked Böhm and Lear's audio recording on DG--with which I got acquainted with the piece), and I suppose in 1963 Otto Schenk was a "modern" director  ;D

Some praise over on the Mozart PC thread led to

And a dark horse complete set I haven't seen discussed here, but I found some interesting, somewhat mixed, reviews

I ordered these three items from jpc:

[asin]B00OYKL0PQ[/asin]
[asin]B00DNVJ0IQ[/asin]
[asin]B001TKUB3G[/asin]

The prices on the 2 last items were crazy good, like 4 Euros for the Dvorak and 7 Euros for the double CD Festetics.

I ordered the Gal too, the samples of what I heard are very good, as as the reviews.
And they lowered the price also, which is good too!

Hope you find one new for under $4, like I did.  8)

I did get myself one of those. :D  Though I couldn't match the price you paid, I was satisfied to get it just under £8 - most alternatives were more than double that amount.

Just bought:

My dad owns all the Rachmaninov, but I wanted some for myself and I figured this would be a good way to get it all. 8) There looks like there are many great performances in this set which many of them I've heard multiple times before and, of course, love them. I also bought this for $54 via Amazon Marketplace which is the best deal I've seen for this set. So order now if you're interested!

Picked this up at a local outlet:

I vaguely remember seeing it posted here before - Gordo might have it. :)

Great, John, let me know your opinion about the Rach box, I'm considering to buy it too!

Will do, Ilaria! Many of these performances I already know of course like the Ashkenazy ones and many I do not. I definitely do not know any of Rach's operas or chamber works, so this in itself will be a new discovery for me.

André

A 1950s Liszt recital by Artur Rubinstein. King Artur has long been a favourite for his uncanny ability to sink in a pianistic idiom while conserving his inimitable sonority and impeccable musical taste. Funérailles is probably my favourite Liszt piece. Too bad the Ballade no 2 and the Dante sonata were not in his standard repertoire.

I have a handful of Sculthorpe albums, now I need to explore further.

This is a no-brainer as Chandos' first Petrassi release was a revelation and one of the best discs of the year for me.
