I was lucky that the bargain store that I frequent just got some stock in from the Spanish La ma de guido and Verso labels.
Good times... 8)

I told you before I envy you greatly for this store.

I am lucky, indeed. And walking distance from my work, so I can drop by almost every lunch break. :)

Though back in the day when the shop was still in a run down little shopping mall that has been demolished a few years ago, I paid only 5-6 Dutch guilders!  ??? (2.2 guilders went in a euro at the time of conversion) Now it is 7 euros for a single disc, 10-11for a double.... ::)
At those rates I do not take a gamble here and there, like I did in the past. I usually make notes of new stock and check on line at home what I like and come back the next day to get it. Fortunately on line sampling is much easier these days. I still miss the opportunity to splash out in random gambles that sometimes lead to important discoveries,  though I occasionally take a gamble with an unknown recording. :D

Unfortunately this shop is not in my walking distance, despite the fact that the Netherlands is a small country in Europe. But I agree about the era of the Guilder. Everything went twice as expensive as before, and we often tend to forget that one guilder is not one euro. And in that sense we have to be careful these days and not careless in spending freely. However much we would like that! :)

I do not know the work of Claudio Merulo so I have invested in these two double CD sets to get me started....

I absolutely love that disc. Sonata, concerto, everything.

In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Great to hear that. It was recommended to me by someone who has and also really likes it.

Nice; new Panelope Crawford Beethoven.  I wonder if she is working backwards to complete the set?

Well, she's going at a snail's pace - ;)  Just went to Amazon to order the new disc and saw that I bought the first one in September 2011 (but actually recorded in 2010) - now, 7 down and 25 to go - will she make it?  Dave :)
