You're welcome. Schieferdecker seems a very interesting composer, sadly not much performed/recorded (a lot of his music seems to be lost). The only other disc I have is "Geistlishe Konzerte" on Carus label and a short organ work on CPO (Flamme's series of the North German Baroque).

I am not that much interested in the vocal works, but I know the Carus recording. Furthermore I am aware of the fact that Flamme recorded a piece from this composer, but Flamme's playing style is not to my taste. Thank you though for pointing them out to me :)
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

No problem.  ;)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Pulled the trigger on several things I had been mulling over for some time now...

Mainly for the première performance of George Crumb's stunning Star-Child conducted by Pierre Boulez (plus a few other things that interest me):

Some really early Messiaen recordings (with Les offrandes oubliées conducted by Roger Desormière being of particular interest).
[asin]B000LPRNUO[/asin]

The first recordings ever of Berlioz's Requiem and La damnation de Faust, conducted by Jean Fournet in occupied Paris:

And all the following for the Debussy they contain:

Collecting all of these requires a fat wallet, but why not pick up cheap ones?

Decided to get this version of Bernstein's DG recordings as it was a bit cheaper and didn't have the Orchestral songs (don't really like them) :)

Sort of a machine-gun trigger !!
TD: following the Frank Bridge discussion, I got the Hickox box.  This will give me an overview of his different periods.  I first listen to "Oration",  Karl's favorite.  It reminds me of Dutilleux "Tout un monde lointain", without the mysterious atmosphere.  The late romanticism is definitively gone.  That what World War I did to him...

Thanks, Ray. Yeah, I've always heard great things about it and I believe my dad owns it already, but I couldn't find it in his collection. Have you heard Rostropovich's later recording of this CC with Ozawa? Some people prefer his recording with HvK while others prefer the Ozawa conducted performance.

The HvK roccoco variations are fun.  For the CC I prefer the Guilini or the Ozawa.  Different conceptions of the work.

Since this is a pretty dramatic work, I think Rostropovich/HvK will be the ones for the job as I love HvK's style of conducting and, of course, I love Rostropovich. One of the greatest cellists to ever grace this earth.

It's an interesting box. Personal favourites include "Phantasm" (the piano concerto effectively) and "Enter Spring".
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

I've got that set as well, but one thing I have an issue with is the rather scrappy ensemble playing. Perhaps I do need to revisit this set, but HvK has literally reignited my passion for Bruckner and brought me a whole new level of understanding that I previous didn't have.

Popp's Four Last Songs is divine. Heavenly interpretation. After Jessye Norman, it's my favorite performance. Tennstedt's accompaniment is right on-the-mark, too. I have the original issue of this Popp/Tennstedt recording and it's coupled with an absolutely gripping Death & Transfiguration. Anyway, enjoy, my friend!
