T&F reminded me I had to get this, so I just ordered it

And these from Arkivmusic

A trip to Melbourne meant a pilgrimage to Thomas Music, the only decent classical CD shop in Australia that I know of.

I'm still not sure I bought as much as Mirror Image in the last week...

I was rather amazed that of all the Dvorak boxes, the one they had was the one I was most interested in. And apparently they get Supraphon orders very rarely, and this only came a week or two ago.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

[In Yoda voice] "Struck gold, you did." :) Anyway...

As much as I appreciate getting good deals online and that these web shops are there at our convenience, I really miss the whole thrill of discovery of flipping through the CD bins and being able to converse in person with fellow listeners.

I will be purchasing this when it comes out in July:

Menawhile, CBC Radio aired it yesterday night, courtesy of Deutsche Grammophon. Too early to tell where it will stand in relation to the competition, but I was stunned by the first 2 acts.

Happy owner of all of these, except for the Dacapo Koppel concertos, bowing back in a graceful motion.  ;D
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

Wow, congrats on your restraint!

I'm stunned myself. It feels quite odd not to be in the market really, like I've given uip a hobby. Or an old friend has moved away.

I might not have bought this except for the complete and total lack of duplication(!). I have not one disk by them.  I resisted the Beaux Arts box too! That surprised me even more as I went to Azon uk thinking about it.  Of course if the pound hits parity ...

I have one Emerson disc and six Beaux Arts discs, so I am very much in the market for both those beauties.

Bought earlier this morning:

I already own Symphonies 2-4 & 8 of the Simone Young Bruckner cycle, so I figured I'd update my collection. Probably will buy the rest later on. The Brahms Wand cycle comes highly recommended from Jens. I love Wand's conducting, so this was almost a no-brainer.

I do hope and expect that you will like that one.

Thanks, aligreto. I've heard good things about it.
