I am very happy to have found this forum. I am starting a new position as a public radio host on our local classical music station - so very exciting! I managed an orchestra some 20 years ago in Germany and have a lot of knowledge in historical performance practice and most things up to and including Brahms. Past that - I need help - especially since I will be playing a lot of 20th century composers.... I think this just might be the place!

Hello, lengle, and welcome from...NYC! Congrats on the new job, and you'll find quite a few 20th-century fans here (including me). Enjoy yourself - lots of fine people here.

Welcome, lengle! Sounds like we'll enjoy learning from you as much as you enjoy learning from some of us... great picture of Thomas Fey, who 'round these parts seems to have gotten the nickname "The Hobbit"  ;D

lengle

I worked with Fey for many years, but "The Hobbit" is a new one for me - it certainly fits!

Greetings and welcome, Lengle!  :) :) :)

Love the avatar! Fey is a man among men, or maybe a short man among taller men, or, well just a man. But he releases great Haydn discs.

Welcome to the forum! You'll certainly find plenty of discussion on both modern music and HIP.

I expect you called him Master Perian . . . .

I've never heard anyone call him "Merry"....

I apologize, Lengle, that your introduction thread has become all about Mr. Fey, but does anyone have any footage of him conducting? I couldn't find anything online and would live to see him in action, if his Haydn renditions are any clue then I would guess he's a fiery little devil on that podium.  >:D  :)

Welcome aboard! I don't know anything about Fey's Haydn recordings but it sure has been the talk of the town on GMG for awhile. :)

I hope we can help you.  But I worry that if you play what some of us like on the radio, angry mobs may form outside the studio.

Sounds like you are in the right place, welcome! :)
