In your opinion he was. Not to me. His music sounds like the equivalent of a washing machine gone haywire, but, then again, he was a student of Messiaen and Stockhausen so this explains it all to me. But all of this is just my opinion.

An opinion you don't cease to express as scatologically as possible. But hey, this is just my opinion...

Yes, I shouldn't have said he "was" brilliant, what a gaffe.  Maestro is still apparently quite active + cutest INA-GRM composer personal website ever, last time I checked.  The most recent piece I've heard from him is 10 years old now, but I remember really being impressed.

Well, I know nothing about this composer. Since spotify and other sites as such are blocked in China, I will not know. But he does sound interesting, even if John was right (as I like Stockhausen a lot).
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Why do you feel the need to put down composers you don't like (and not in general threads, but in specific threads to celebrate a particular composer, meaning you had to actively seek out the thread instead of accidentally stumbling across it)? It's rude and childish behavior and just makes you look bad.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

FYI springrite and all, you might be able to still download (more or less legally?) one Bayle's greatest long form works, EROSPHERE, from Avant Garde Project; though I am so out of the avant loop for a while now, busy being crotchety Beethoven lover, that I don't know where/if AGP is now hosted, and if they still carry a flac vinyl rip of that piece.
EROSPHERE is a hell of a piece, and I think maybe never on CD before the 2012 box.  I hope INA-GRM will decide to reissue it on a cheap single disc apart from the box set!  Tape music for stoners.  Well, maybe all tape music is for stoners.   8)

Spot on. If you don't like a certain composer, don't hunt down those discussions that are obviously not of interest to you. Leave people who love them alone.

Because I can. I didn't actively seek this thread out. It was clear as a bell on the GMG homepage. If you guys are so sensitive that you can't take another man's opinion, then you need to seek psychological treatment ASAP.

And then you insult us further to boot. Your behavior stinks, to be blunt. Unfortunately, it is one of the few constants on these boards.

Chill, Neal. It's been a while since John made an ass of himself on the world stage and then regretted what he did; it's part of a cycle. You can expect an apology within a night or two. ;) In the meanwhile, let's hope all this activity helps the CDs get a new home.
Regards,
Navneeth

I didn't know about that 2010 edition at all....I guess I have been gone from that scene longer than I realize.  And a thick booklet with "Acousmographies" of the piece!  Deluxxxxxe.

Those interested can read an essay on Bayle by latter-day concrète master Lionel Marchetti here (French only):
http://www.inagrm.com/sites/default/files/FB_50_ANS_D_ACOUSMATIQUE_L.MARCHETTI.pdf

and the product page for the box set at INA-GRM is here:

It is not a booklet; it is a 120-page book, containing half a dozen extensive essays. The acousmographies are in the accompanying DVD-ROM, along with plenty of bonus material.
