Making sense! Making sense!

It all depends on which of the six senses you are talking about.

Inspired by Dave's call to make sense, I just thought of a new slogan:

Make sense, not war!
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Talking sense is overrated.

There are tremendous depths to that statement, indeed it could and will change the world...

What our dumb civilization takes as common sense is frequently as bizarre and far-fetched as human history has ever seen.

mc ukrneal,Hi springrite, it wouldn't be my view that many Chinese cities have much culture or characteristics, the whole place having been developed under uniform socialist policies with very similar urban environments and indeed local cultures- from north to south. Why don't you call over at mine some time though?]

Gu Qin my favourite Chinese instrument! I hope you enjoy listening to it and then you might even find the culture you evidently have not discovered yet. My pianst friend at the Sechuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu is helping me to understand and admire the culture of his country. - And it is nice to hear from you again! -

Hello kaergaard; China's okay, especially when I pause to think through why annoying things might be the way they are, and it does have a culture, one that seems to reside just under the surface sometimes; I've certainly been sending a record number of complaining emails to people while I've been here though...

Belated welcome back from me too. See you in the Bax thread  :)

Sounds like a good idea to me.  ;)

Eyeless in Gaza, an even fairer evaluation. BTW I also read the verdict on your colleagues  with some alarm.  ::)

Hi Christo

Hopefully most of my travel days are over. I've run out of the more extreme things to do and try to spend more time looking inward...

Two years ago, I wrote a book on the recent popularity of 'freedom of speech' in 'the West', and especially my own country, and observed that much of its popularity originates in the idea that it justifies abuse and insult. Now that I come to think of that ...  :-\
