Big Miles fan, but little interest in the movie ... here's a review:
http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/oct/10/miles-ahead-review-don-cheadle-miles-davis-biopic

As for the box sets/reissues, gee, folks, the official ones are available and cheap, no need to go for real gone 20-albums-on-3-floppy-discs-crap (might even be MP3-sourced, and from what I hear might be hard to rip without errors). Obviously, stuff is PD so the reissues aren't illegal in Europe (or wherever copyrights have ended), but still ...

Chronicle: The Complete Prestige Recordings 1951-1956 (scaled down reissue, full booklet included):

Columbia Mono Albums:
http://www.amazon.de/Original-Mono-Albums-Collection/dp/B00ESEYE60/

Miles w/Coltrane - Complete Columbia:
http://www.amazon.de/The-Complete-Columbia-Recordings-1955/dp/B004LR5JZO/

Miles w/Gil Evans - Complete Columbia (OOP but still to be found it seems):
http://www.amazon.de/The-Complete-Columbia-Studio-Recordings/dp/B0041PIJOO/

Second Quintet 1965-68 - Complete Columbia:
http://www.amazon.de/1965-1968-Miles-Davis/dp/B0057Q81R6/

the boxes that cover the next years (Complete In a Silent Way, Complete Bitches Brew, Complete Jack Johnson, Complete On the Corner) aren't as easy to be found, but they're not PD either, so no legal cheapo reissues ... there's also the live Cellar Door box (documenting the gig some of which ended up on "Live-Evil") ... and for the seventies, you'll need plenty of live Miles, too ...

Long box editions:
http://www.amazon.de/The-Complete-Silent-Way-S/dp/B0002199G8/
http://www.amazon.de/Complete-Johnson-Sessions-Miles-Reconfigured/dp/B00022UJAW/
The corresponding "Bitches Brew" one is OOP again it seems:
http://www.amazon.de/Complete-Bitches-Brew-Sessions/dp/B000620N2M/
The one that was never reissued in any longbox or book edition is the On the Corner box, which while terrific is also somewhat botched (it's not quite as complete as one'd wish it to be, and the booklet isn't as detailled in its session-by-session notes as the other boxes are).

The Anniversary Edition of Bitches Brew however, is around cheaply again though (missing the vinyl and I guess all the memorabilia included in the original, LP-sized box) - this misses plenty of music but adds the 1970 Lenox concert on disc 3 and the 1969 Copenhagen concert by the "lost quintet" as a DVD on disc 4):

Big Miles fan, little interest in tired stream of recycled Miles (box-sets and re-issues). Now onto something new ..

I see. A shame. This movie will be great.

Flawed or not, I certainly want to see it. Based on what I've seen it looks like Cheadle gives a really solid performance. And the film is rooted in Miles's Dark Period, the McGregor character being a fictionalized stand-in for a role saxophonist Bill Evans would have played in real-life, to an extent. I can't picture anyone else better suited for the part of Miles than Cheadle. Should be entertaining.
