Interesting, isn't it, that these children, who would probably be considered by many people the lowest socio-economic group and the most uncultured, see right through to the greatness of classical music, which would likely be disdained as hopelessly outmoded and uncool by many more affluent kids interested only in rap and techno-pop.

Thanks for shearing, a great video. There was an article in The Strad about the scrap instruments some time ago.

Indeed. Very good observation.

One more proof, if needed, that (1) where there's a will, there is way and (2) self-organizing communities, albeit poor, are much more likely to live meaningful lives than those which expect everything from the State/government. Those poor slum dwellers know more about what it means to live authentically than the inhabitants of a dozen affluent suburbs.  ;D

When it's so uber-easy to get access to popular music these days, what does this tell us all about these young people and their expression of humanity and their need for something deeper and more meaningful?  That it's easy to be 'corrupted' by a pervasive culture which is front and centre?  Or the realization that the most wonderful things in life aren't necessarily those which are absolutely in your face every day?
