The archive is infinite, and the costs to store are essentially zero.

I appreciate the supportive remarks regarding what I've posted above - thank you.

I rather wish I hadn't have had a few whiskeys on Saturday evening, but the conversation with my manager was stressful. Having experienced both anxiety attacks and inebriation, I much prefer the latter, if it will stave off the former.

Anyway, I'm still singing Mahler's Resurrection on the 16th. On that account, I truly consider myself a lucky man.  ;)

Not to mention the complete absence of disposal costs. And just how long does it take for a plastic disc and its neat little case to decompose under the elements? Yet another brilliant example of environmental neglect — right when all the conscientious souls are striving to cut down on plastic.

Soon afterward my manager texted me and I decided it was time to reveal my diagnosis of long-term kidney failure.

Now we'll see what happens...
Hope all goes well for you.

Plastic?

I've not seen a plastic cover in a long, long time from any new physical media I've purchased. Plastic is capitalistic and corporate, so I only see that when I buy a rare disc from eBay, which becomes rarer and rarer by the day.

All my music is digital, and I strive to purchase it directly from the artists themselves (hence, Bandcamp).

I do think that eventually I'll get to cut Presto out as artists continue to take fuller control of their music.

Now, of course, this does mean that I am unplugged from the mainstream, but that is a cost that I am willing to bear.

Ditto. Good luck with it all, LKB.

Good for you. However, I was referring primarily to those who just can't seem to overcome their urge to own compact discs.

Yeah, I've not seen a plastic cover in a long time for any cd that I've purchased in the last decade.

Of course, you'll see plastic if you're lazy and go to a corporate shop like Amazon or Best Buy or Barnes or whatever, but, if you do as I do, you'll discover that there are a lot of ways to package compact discs, many of which use recycled materials which can then be recycled again.

@LKB So, how did things go re your discussion/news with your boss?

I honestly don't know as yet. Tonight is the first worknight of the week, and he's yet to notify me of any changes. I may get there and encounter any number of scenarios, good or bad. ( He seemed amenable to alleviating at least some of my challenges, but he has bosses as well... )

Well, there are also work laws; you should check into them.

But of course, I was referring to plastic discs and cases. Even if your discs are without cases, they miraculously remain plastic. Or have compact discs suddenly started being produced from biodegradable materials as well?

Nothing in particular at all.

Just posted in the " Mahler Mania " thread. Now I think I'll look for interesting reaction videos, since I'm neither working nor sleeping.

My body, mind, senses, and nescience have landed on an island in the southwestern South China Sea, somewhere in the Gulf of Thailand. As for myself—I'm everywhere and nowhere.
