Today I bought some old fashioned groceries.

According to the President of the United States, groceries are a bag with different things in it. Now that dementia is off the table we can all relax.

Now this is brilliant - its a "reusable" groceries list/machine from the 1950's!

Pretty cool!  Looking at various images, I like the French one better.   :)

Sorry that it's not larger, but you can find it by googling "metal grocery list french" and find a bigger image there.

The French one is beautiful, but it seems noticeably larger in size. It's not quite clear how to use it — you can't exactly put it in your pocket.

I was thinking more of the ingredients/items on it.  But yes, I suspect that it's rather like trying to figure out where to put one of those larger iPhones on you.  :)

Judging by the two holes at the top, this thing is clearly meant to be hung on the wall. You can step up, pick the positions you need, and then — a handy moment for the iPhone — take a quick photo to use later at the grocer's. Voilà!

My undergrad university just called me. 7:50pm on a Sunday night. Some poor student obviously tasked with contacting alumni -- no doubt with the goal of updating contact information for people like me who graduated 30 years ago and aren't staying connected. (with the next goal being to start asking for money)

I felt bad for this girl, who said she was a senior but sounded about 12 to my ears. But I told her right away that I didn't have any money and didn't choose to stay connected. Then I hung up.

A sure sign of aging! Now, 20-somethings are like children to you. My aging neighbors see me as being young, but I'm 45.

My old university has done this for years. I don't mind giving them a small donation and the chat with the undergraduate is often pleasant and genuine.

I obviously should have given them money before they gave me a grade ;) .

For me, it is by email, and they send me magazines and have special alumni events like talks. Funny enough, my Father is long retired, and his schools still try to get money out of him!

Managed to "foist off" some of my pot roast, sauce and mashed potatoes onto a friend of mine.  Hope that he enjoys it; note directive to him:  cook some carrots (which he agreed to)--I'd rather that he would do some peas and carrots, but I know that he had a hard day at work (offered to prep and cut up some carrots, but he said that he had some at home).
