It's a beautiful city. If you have the chance and the mood, visit Khinkalnaya Velyaminova, a restaurant at 8 Shalva Dadiani Street, not far from Freedom Square.

Just got done chatting with copilot, and found a whole genre of music that I love that I didn't know even existed: keywords, music for a mall that isn't abandoned but has never had any customers

I'm mercilessly razzing the people on a financial doomer site.  :P

Down follows up. Up follows down. I'm prepared for both. My preparation is a very sophisticated investment strategy developed in my secret lab. Nevertheless, because I'm a good guy and want to help I'll reveal my secret. Ready? Here it is. I do nothing. I do it as hard as I can for as long as it takes. You're welcome.

Doing nothing is a fine art. It takes time to master, as well as a patient cultivation of the innate qualities most of us possess, though they call for persistence and focus. Sadly, many lose heart and turn to all manner of busyness, taking jobs and the like.

     I bought Coca Cola.  :)

I don't drink the stuff any more. Still, they'll send me growing dividends anyway. The divs have grown uninterruptedly for 50 years or so.

It's like buying Raytheon... there will always be a market for ordnance, and for bubbly caffeinated refreshment.

About to jump in the shower, then it's off to the diner for some eggs.

After that, hopefully I can get my phone serviced, I've not been able to charge it for three weeks.

     I bought Raytheon in 2022. It's up 64% since I bought it.

How are you enjoying your semi-retirement?  Hope that all is going well?

Thanks for asking, I appreciate it.  8)

June and July were very good, August was crazy ( met a new lady, a very young and enchanting one... ) and September has been rather stressful due to the problem with my phone.

So... challenges, which we all have.  ::)

I just watched the trailer for the new Bigelow film. It's not a rom-com.  :)

Celebrating.

I'm an obsessive giver-away-er, and I thought I had given away a batch of comics. Scoured my apartment looking for them. You know where I found them - quite literally the last place I looked, lol.

Glad to have not given them away. :)

I did a miraculous thing. I found a watchable copy of The Race for the Double Helix, one of the most unobtainable movies I know of. It's never been put on an official DVD.

Finally decided I'm done with Starbucks. There is the irritation that they hired a new CEO who, in return for his exorbitant salary, isn't willing the relocate and demanded a corporate jet so he could commute from L.A. to Seattle. (That goes with their environmental mission statement how?) I keep getting notices that their rewards system has been updated to make me more pleased (by reducing the benefits, apparently they want to reward my ascetic tendencies). Then I read they had purchased a billion sharpies because baristas are required to write chirpy messages on the paper cups.

I mainly use Starbucks because I can order ahead with the app, and on my last visit I arrived to find a note taped to the window - "lobby closed, please use drive-through" -  with the drive-through choked with a dozen cars. I would have to wait on that line to pick up the coffee I had already offered. I left. Maybe the barista could write something appropriate on the cup, like "fuck off."

I deleted my Starbucks account and they say they will mail the a check for my unused balance of a buck and change. After they deleted the account they sent me a note saying they would credit my account with $5 to make up for the unsatisfactory experience. Genius! Where will that unclaimed $5 appear on their balance sheet, I wonder?
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

I only drink coffee at home. It's Cafe Bustelo, you know the yellow bricks in the supermarket? My Supervisor buys it for whatever reason.

When I was a working lad I would stop at Starbucks in Harvard Square on my way to work in the city.

Sorry that they were making it so difficult for you!

I just (earlier this afternoon) had coffee for the first time in ages; I hope that I sleep tonight!

Doing the nasty but necessary task of cleaning out the fridge.  Tonight will be Part A.
