It's still occupation, though by a multi-national force.  Occupation is occupation.

There are other important factors in an occupation... prior planning, intentions, how armed it is, duration, coordination with a political/diplomatic process, collaboration, etc.

Fox Conner.

Wow, thank you. I had never heard of Fox Conner. If there are any others in my boat, a quote from his Wiki bio will prove enlightening:

QuoteConner had three principles or rules of war for a democracy that he imparted to both [of his students/colleagues,] Eisenhower and Marshall. They were:
Never fight unless you have to;
Never fight alone; and
Never fight for long.

I just woke up. What have I missed? (3 Pages, oh my,... is it drama?)

If this Thread is still on the news-of-the-day...

Anyone see Ron Paul on msnbC? pretty funny...

Here's a Poll: Do you think I should read those 3 Pages? Is my ignorance bliss this morning? Do I owe Sarge an answer? Anyone else?

I hear that what all those hair samples in Syria are testing positive for is flouride!! yes flouride, so, duh, doesn't EVERYONE have... wait... did they just accidentally call flouride a chemical weapon (titter :laugh:)????

Pelosi said the very same thing yesterday.  It's what politicians are supposed to say.  I'd say it's meaningless jibber-jabber, but it's not; it's good old-fashioned cynicism.  Why, literally just today, the Gray Lady posted a long article on Paul Kagame, appropriately labeling him the Global Elite's Favorite Strongman.  Here's a man lefties should be howling to put on trial for war crimes in the Congo, but, for now, he's our SOB.  Assad isn't.

didnt someone say today that the middle east without oil is just like africa? stop.

That person is an idiot if they said that, for about 15 reasons. Reason #1: Africa has oil.

Lots of oil.

They might merge into this one guy I had the displeasure of talking to in real life. Apparently, Obama is capable of bending the laws of nature by being fascist and Communist at the same time. Probably this would happen only in the sense of being far out, though.

Another possibility is that the conspiracy theory aspect might merge them into Rob Newman...

Greeeeg... tell me, what IS the difference between Communism and Fascism?

It's that good old Hegelian Dialectic coming round from behind... wait for it... wait for it....

There's really no dif between the two, now is there... reeeeaaaaalllly now is there?

Fascism = Schindler retains ownership of his factory

Communism = the gov. takes over ownership of Schindler's factory

Greg, you're STILL THE FOOD FOR BOTH!!! 'Underworld' movies... werewolves/vampires... YOU'RE still the food my good man

The left/right dichotomy is a Hegelian construct to keep you busy while the thieves make of with your 'you'.

You gonna trust Soros over Koch???? vampires vs werewolves??? YOU'RE STILL THE BOOTY!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Capitalists = War Mongering Israelis

Communists = Gay Israelis

Now look at the news channels and watch their 'debates'.

Guys, don't even try to pull the card on me. It's just true, you know it, so, let's not let personal pride get in the way, shall we, hmm??

BREAKING!!!!BREAKING!!!!ARABS RUN HOLLYWOOD!!!!CALIPHATE ON THE WAY!!!!!!!!

YA SEE WHAT I MEANS??
Greg, could I interest you in a little Monarchal Theocracy?

um, guys,... ???

I think we mean BLACK Africa, haha!! Your handy chart proves that. All I saw was Kenya I think.

I just Posted that meaning why we don't go liberating all the African problem countries... you know?... you agree with that point right? I mean, it's kind of the facts (Rwanda anyone?).

Could be, in a sense, slavery by corporation vs. slavery by government, depending on your definition.
In this sort of definition, the corporations own the government, whereas in Communism, the government owns the corporations.

A+ for the day, Greg. Good show!!

Here, Greg... pull out a dime, a ten cent piece. Look at the back. You know those two bundles that are tied together? They're called 'fasci'... as in 'fascism'... sooooo, I ask you Greg, what are the images of fasci doing on our coinage? Historically, it's bundles of axes, bundled together so that the blades all point in the same direction... go back to Hegel... add Marx... and... viola!! It's call the 'pincer' technique: fund the war, and also fund the war protesters... in the end, you will get your pre-planned action to be implemented (witness the Lib movement from the '60s on has achieved many of their goals... de-arming the general populace is the final step before the gulag-liciousness begins!!!

You DO know the little things about the dollar, right?

Pretty much, and he apparently thinks it a good action, a moral action, to do it, even without the aid of fellow droogs.

I think the US should do something: it should lament how bad things are, and talk about it for a while, then talk some more, and finally talk some more.  Hopefully, if we talk long enough, Baby Assad's domestic tussle - which is worse than Papa Assad's domestic tussle - will be over, with whomever in power, and we can get back to the serious business of looking for reasons and ways to attack Iran.

Because they keep the oil flowing.  Nigeria presents a volatile situation where the US could conceivably get involved in the future, however.  ExxonMobil will expect some type of protection for their $33 billion in investments.

So, per our allies (I think), Assad may not have ordered a gas attack.  (But surely, the NSA, with its inescapable surveillance, has better intelligence, like the kind that stopped Boston . . .)

And now Kerry hath decreed, per his boss, that Syria has one week to give up chemical weapons.

Should we perhaps start a pool as to when/if Syria gets attacked, and the type of response?  Choices could range from a presidential 'oopsy, my bad' to a cruise missile/B1/B2/B52/aircraft carrier strike force assault with special ops boots on the ground.
