Yeah, they beat the Dodgers pretty bad tonight: 9-0. Loved every minute of it. The Dodgers are such sore losers! Anyway, looks like it's St. Louis vs. Boston now. Should be an excellent World Series.

Good to see the Red Sox beat the Tigers tonight, so it's just as I have predicted for the World Series: Cardinals vs. Red Sox. Should be some good baseball and, if I'm not mistaken, these two teams have never faced each other in the World Series.

BoSox beat the Cardinals in the 2004 World Series  ;D

But I agree, should be good baseball. Are there any two better baseball towns than St. Louis and Boston?

Can't blame John for forgetting that.  After the drama of the playoffs that year, and "Reverse the Curse",  the actual series was almost an afterthought.  The Sox had to win over someone, and it was the fate of the Cardinals to play that role.

One thing I wouldn't want is to be anywhere near Fenway Park on game day this year, what with the security.  I suspect Karl's commute this week will be somewhat complicated. They practically closed down Downtown Boston for the Fourth of July Esplanade concert,  Yawkey only knows what they'll do to Back Bay now.  But do expect to see a whole bunch of Boston Strong t-shirts in the stands during this series.

Oh, baseball is still going on? How are the Sox doing?

Thank goodness for the Cardinals. No Yankees imitators in the World Series, please. Now all they have to do is dispatch whatever sorry AL team makes it in.

Red Sox in 5. Mediocre AL pitchers go to the National League and become aces. After facing Detroit's starting four over 6 games, the Sox will feel like they're taking batting practice against the Cardinals.

Can't quite get into hockey yet, Ernie, with the Red Sox still going strong (and not sure if I'll be able to get excited about the Celtics at all.)

The Red Sox also lost to the Cardinals in 1967 -- one of the classic 7 game series.

Detroit's starting four? The ones the Giants took batting practice against last year? Dodgers aren't exactly scrubs, and the Cards dispatched them well. The AL has been the weaker league for a few years, now.

I'm kidding, I think. I watched the last few innings and when Uehara mowed those guys down in the 9th with one strike after another I was pretty excited.

When I think of the Red Sox and Cards I think of Teddy Ballgame and Stan the Man. I had their baseball cards way back when.

But the Cards are not playing the AL.  They're playing the Red Sox.

George--I'm "borrowing" your picture.

Wicked awesome pictures, George.  I may send them on to my uncle.  He's the true Red Sox fanatic in the family.

In honor of the Sox I watched part of The Town later that night, where the (Charles)townies robbed Fenway Park. If only.....

Jon Hamm is in the movie, playing an American, which he can do.

Taking the fanaticism out of it and trying to be impartial, the most realistic prediction I've seen has the Red Sox winning in 7. Boston has the home field advantage and has an excellent record at Fenway while the Cardinals are .500 on the road. Between two teams with the best regular season records in their respective leagues, that factor is probably the most important in tipping the balance.

(Also, half the the Dodger lineup was made up of players the Red Sox dumped from their last place team last year.)    ;D

Wha, wha, wha, wha ...

Get Mike Metheny a bottle! Did he really make those comments after seeing the video? After the Red Sox crushed the Cardinals who played like a little league team, he's crying that they lost because the umpires got the call right?

Just the first game, of course, but land sakes, did they ever give the Cards a spankin'.
