Leon Mouravieff / Mouraviev (1905 -1987)

I'm looking for information on Leon Mouravieff / Mouraviev. Born in Kiev 1905, died in Paris 1987.

His (very lovely) Nativité for string trio and string orchestra was recorded on a Vox and Christophorus CD ( Konzertante Russische Musik / Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim/ Paul Angerer).

I couldn't find much on the Internet...: a few scores for piano, some chamber- and orchestral music. He is buried at the cemetery of Sainte Geneviève des Bois . Both Serge Lifar and Rudolph Noureev have their graves aswell (+ several other Russsian emigré artists). Anyway, I would love to discover more about this mysterious composer???

Hmmmm.....afraid I can't help you here, Peter! Even the amazingly comprehensive russiancomposers.org.uk/ doesn't have a page for Mouravieff! I'm not familiar with that work of his you mentioned, so thanks for the tip! I seem to recall it garnered some praise on another forum.

Anyway, this weekend in Brussels, the Belgian National Orchestra /Boreyko + 3 Russian pianists ( Kozhukin, Matzuev, Mayboroda) go through all Rachmaninov's concerti. A real treat!
