I don't know why, but it feels like this is the last time we hear from Spirit of England. :(

Why?  He/she is probably asleep by now, given the time difference, although our nocturnal Scots John is probably still awake in the gloamin' !

Well look at the time they made the initial post. I hope I'm wrong of course. Yes, they're asleep by now (probably).

Thanks for the warm welcome - yes, even to those of you who assumed that because I posted such a ponderously long introduction, and then mysteriously disappeared off the face of the earth for a few days, that I had done so simply to exercise my typing skills and my laptop keyboard! :-)

Well alright, I can see your point, I suppose it was unwise of me to say "hello", and then fall silent, but it's the time of year!

I will try to do better in future, and perhaps tomorrow even try to answer all the questions you have already bowled down at me.
