Maybe I'm becoming an alcoholic, I dont know, but I've been regularly drinking one beer each night.

That does not make you an alcoholic, just punctual.  ;)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Not true at all... (my opinion, of course.)

Indeed... I've often wondered what Chopin's Mazurkas would be like to listen to while under the influence. But I'll never know, as I'm a no alcohol person, hehe...

can't enjoy classical music if you are drunk

As I've pointed out elsewhere on this thread, I've learned to appreciate works that I was cool toward before thanks to demon drink. For example, both Die Schöpfung and Rigoletto needed some lubrication to get into my musical consciousness.

How much I drink depends on what time of year it is, where I am, whom I am with, what else is going on, so on, and so forth.

To answer the question: on average, one night a week, with varying results.

Well I would rather second MahlerTitan view, and I can't see any advantage in listening to classical music without full possession of mental faculties. Of course there's a subjective variability in alcohol endurance, so one may get something good from being drunk; I simply feel my attention and concentration fading away, and my thoughts going numb and sticky. That is probably due to the fact that I smoke, and the times I've been drinking very much I've been also smoking very much, a mixture that prevent me to reason fruitfully on nothing at all.

Actually, no.  I once went to see the Moscow Chamber orchestra in New York, absolutely trashed.   I had some girlfriend problems, so I drank 2 glasses of gin with some tonic.  I tried acting sober, and was able to buy a ticket.  Man!  The concert was amazing.  If you're very drunk, but not to a point of puking, then classical music sounds so damn powerful and great.

I enjoy a glass or two of red wine. I used to wait till thursday but decided life is too short!!

The important thing for me is that i never drink as soon as i get home-i know that this is a slippy path that friends have gone down.  They have a stressful day then attack the wine and are blotto by 8pm. For me i drink wine because i enjoy it and deserve a small treat at the end of the day.  I prefer having a wee glass about 9pm.  Probably about half the bottle-about 3 glasses.

When i lived in Holland wine was cheap and plentiful so no excuse.  I began to worry that i might be drinking too much on occasion-drinking most nights at home.  Now i live in Asia, the cost is high sometimes compared to my salary so wine has become a 'treat' again to be savoured not slugged down.  A bottle at the weekend is about all i can afford.

A glass of wine at the interval makes all the difference.  That warm feeling it creates inside of you when the music starts again.....is great ;D

Hmm...it's interesting you mention quite dramatic works. I was already into it, but Monte's Poppea was one I really, really got into after a few drinks.

As a general rule, my excessive consumption of alcohol is done in moderation .........

Eh, it varies with me. I didn't need lubrication to start really liking Wagner and Mahler. In fact, the only thing booze does for Wagner is increase the probability that I will attempt some "audience participation."

Let's just say I could build an alter to Dionysus with my beer cans.

Your story is a copy of my situation my friend.

Very interesting Harry.

I have a love/hate relationship with alcohol.

I like it, but it doesn't like me :)

Bottom line is; I'm better off without it :)

I've had a few health concerns creep up on me which prompted me to do some 'bodywork'.

No alcohol for 3 weeks and I'm definately:

More alert in the evening.

Enjoying a more constant body temperture. Alcohol overheats me. Something to do with my liver :(

Sleeping better.

Urinating less ;D

My eyes are clearer and the puffiness is reduced.

I'm out exercising more.

I'm not saying 'never, ever' but I'm feeling improved at the moment :)

Second story even more akin to my situation.
We could shake hands on this believe me.
It is as if I am reading my own story.
Welcome bro! :)

I think I'll have a shot of tequila tonight, just to see if I can still down it and enjoy the taste.

This is my favorite tequila, its almost like a good scotch.

This one is alot cheaper, and still very good.

Just stay away from Jose.
