Pierre

Hi everyone,

I'm not exactly 'new' to this forum, but I haven't 'stepped forward' to introduce myself in its present incarnation. I'm sorry that certain members such as Molman and Herman don't appear to post here any more, but there seem to be a good number of other posters whose contributions I enjoy reading and so I thought I'd make an appearance from time to time.

I wouldn't claim 'in-depth' knowledge of any particular composer (there's always bound to be someone who knows more!), but love listening to a wide range of music from Spanish Renaissance polyphony, through Bach, Mozart, Berlioz, Musorgsky, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Britten and Knussen, just to name a few.

Welcome Pierre, I hope, as we always do, that you will find something here what is worth your while.
Be persistent in your enthusiasm for classical music, and a firm determination to share you thoughts, and all will be well. :)

Thank you, MT and Harry.

btw Harry, I hope you don't mind my saying, but loved your thread on being introduced to Boris Godunov! I was so delighted that you enjoyed it in the end.

Hi Pierre!

Have fun, and make sure to start some threads on that polyphony!  0:)

I almost forgotten the struggle I had with opera in general, but I am glad you enjoyed it.
I have the Gergiev DVD now, and watched it many times over, as to get the hang of it.
My steps will be like a little child, in the world of opera, and I doubt that I will ever like Wagner, or the Italian romantics, but I will certainly try.

I hope Beethoven is on your list too, he's pretty good.
