Interested in all about piano and music, I stumbled on this site.

After a break of sixteen years I rediscovered performing music as a way of life. I combine it with my favourite quote: Nil volentibus arduum (nothing is difficult for those who want strong).

Best regards from the Netherlands.

Hi Johan, and welcome.  We seem to be having an influx of Netherlands visitors lately!

What instrument(s) do you play?  And what composers do you like?

And I understand German as perfect as my own language. :)

Hello musicfriends,

I understand German, Dutch and English.

After a break of 16 years I redicovered music as a methode to forget your problems.

From the age of 14 till 37 I was churchorganist, played Bach, Buxtehude etc, and modern organcomposers.  than I left the church.

Last year when I was 53, I got into problems in my job as manager and was burned-out. I started making music on an old keyboard that was somewhere in the house.
I bought a Yamaha Personal Piano, dgx620 and now I'm playing at least two hours a day.
I play  Haydn, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Satie. Also some jazz and music of a canadian composer, Andre Gagnon. His music looks a little bit like New Age music.

Greetings to all of you in de States or Eelde.

Good for you, for doing something you like.  :D  What kinds of jazz do you like and/or play?

My adult children gave my two books as a birthdaypresent: Jazz-standards and The Gershwin collection. They know what Dad likes. ;D
My son and I love jazz f.e. Paul Desmond, Toots Thielemans, Kenny Werner and of course Louis and Ella.
I love to play jazz-traditionals like The nearness of you, Autumn in New York and How deep is the ocean etc.

The classical music I'm working on: Das Wohltemperierte Klavier (Bach; again after all all those years) and Waldszenen (Schumann, opus 92) 0:)

When I was a week on Corfu, sometime ago, I missed my Yammy. ::)
