Welcome to GMG, Torut.  Taneyev is one of my favourite composers, and I've recently (past year) explored Myaskovsky's symphonies and string quartets.

Hope you enjoy it here!  :)

Thank you, ChamberNut. I am already enjoying here a lot!  :D
I like Taneyev's music because it has good melodies and live rhythm with complex and solid structure (just my feeling, I cannot analyze it.) It gives me satisfaction similar to what I get when I hear Beethoven.
I prefer chamber music, but I want to check the complete Myaskovsky's symphonies some time. (I have only No. 1 & 25.)

I like 3, 5, 6, 8 and 13 the most, I think. The later ones seem to be more popular though.

I am trying to refrain from buying individual albums because I will want to buy the complete set. If possible, I want to get mp3 (to save space) but the download version of Svetlanov set is not available in USA. There is mp3 album on amazon.de (Miaskovsky : Complete Symphonies Nos 1 - 27) for just EUR 22,49!

Very solid structure. He was an academic expert on renaissance polyphony.
