Great job, Nate. I enjoyed reading, and listening, to your assessment of Rothko Chapel. Certainly a favorite work of mine.
Thanks! I should point out that there is another write-up on the work here: http://johnsons-rambler.blogspot.com/2005/01/music-since-1960-feldman-rothko-chapel.html (though, no sound clips, but still enjoyable). Fortunately, I didn't come across this until after I finished mine, though. I like to try and use my ideas without too much outside influence, and it would be hard to ignore once I found this.

I think that I'll write on Gershwin's "Cuban Overture" next ( That's right, MI! GERSHWIN! >:D >:D >:D ) or Ades "Asyla" (I will discreetly add here that "Asyla" is my favorite symphony. Ever.). Then probably Bartok's "Dance Suite". Maybe by then I'll have finished gathering my scattered and numerous thoughts on the Ligeti piano concerto and I can start putting them in words. That one will probably be my favorite because the piece is just so much fun -- even hilarious (in a good way ;) ).
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

Yeah? Well, that might have meant something to me before you called Ligeti's piano concerto boring  :P .

See quote below.

I really enjoy these write ups Nate, great job, especially with the embedding of the sound samples.  Speaking of the sound excerpts, can you tell me how you do that (make it show up in a post)?  Also how does one embed a YouTube video in these posts, I could never figure that out...

Glad you enjoyed it. As for the sound samples, I just followed these instructions:

(poco) Sforzando

And so it is. How did you like the Aimard performance we heard in NY last month?
