Isn't this a re-release of the Commotio arrangement? Pretty sure I have that somewhere - as someone said about a different Nielsen release, "supplemental, not essential", but also quite good for the most part... a few places where the orchestration didn't quite sound like Nielsen's, but also quite imaginative and even revelatory (of inner voices) in others.

I think you & I may have a different arrangement of Commotio.

Yep, that's the one I was thinking of. Didn't know there was yet another arrangement. The Holten is, indeed, for different forces (full orchestra).

It is so different from nos. 1-5 that even some Nielsen enthusiasts find it puzzling, but I'd say his Sixth Symphony contains comparable whimsy.

Thanks. Will investigate and report back.

I remember having listened to his Wind Quintet and Violin Concerto and liking them.

I think the finale of the Wind Quintet would actually fit those pictures perfectly: a series of witty and entertaining variations!

Absolutely real. Nielsen was quite the character from his early years. His funny faces reflect much of his music.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.
