I'm reminded of Columbo ;)
"You take our friend here, the murderer. He's very smart, but he's an amateur. I mean, he's got just one time to learn. Just one. And with us cops, well – it's a business. We do this a hundred times a year. I'll tell ya, doc, that's a lot of practice."

It's never my intention to poke fun at amateurs.
"You overestimate my power of attraction," he told her. "No, I don't," she replied sharply, "and neither do you".

It was not at all my intention suggest or insinuate anything of the kind.

^good on ya, Karl.

e: I know you don't post often in this thread, but when you do it's always with a minimum of fuss and cliche. As a result the photos are invariably interesting enough to stop me scrolling.
Anyway, that shot is cool - the open windows here and there along with the overall subtle keystoning makes it look like a kind of architectural sprezzatura. Good stuff.

Hello from Boston.

The contrast between the old iron streetlights and sleek modern building is probably very Bostonian.
I see a figure in the lower left holding two torches of freedom.

Found this Taschen book at Barnes and Noble this morning.   $20 minus a coupon, so it's now mine

Very nice! Damn shame that the Szarkowski (MoMA) book on his work is out of print.

Very nice indeed. That would be of interest to me. Thank you for posting.

Sergeant Rock

A front door to a family winery in Forst (Pfalz) Germany. Looks like a fairy tale setting...or, if you have a darker mindset, a Hammer Horror location.

By weird coincidence I have that exact Atget book. One of the few photography books I own. (I bought it through Amazon, without really knowing what I would be getting--just knew he's a famous name in photography).  In black and white conversion, Sarge's picture would fit right in. However, when I see that pic, I want to rotate it clockwise a couple degrees.

Took my family to America this summer, and stayed 10 days at my brother's house. He lives in the Illinois countryside, on a golf course constructed around 2 lakes. In the evening, when the golfer's are done, we fish on it. Here is a pic from my brother's lawn.

Your brother's lawn looks a bit wet  ;D
Seriously, I trust that you enjoyed the visit.

Oh, yeah. Great time.  My father is 95, and in an old folks home, but we brought him over for the 10 days, and other relatives came in, so it was a full house. By the way, that's not marsh grass at the bottom of the picture, just tall weeds, and the green on the other side is actually the fairway to the 12th hole.

Thank you for sharing the extra photos.
Good for your father for travelling given his great age!
Did your daughter actually eat her catch?

I believe we just threw it back. That lake is so full of fish it could feed the multitudes. We had one big fish fry, but mostly just released them.
Feel like I should do TD.
