I hadn't noticed the connection myself. Then again, neither did I think of drip paintings when I photographed this:

Comments, you say? Love the Goethe quote. The SEM photos of microbes are wonderful, of course (I've seen them several times before :) ). The writings are interesting, informative, and readable, too.

Of course, on the blog, there's this post about John Szarkowski's Atget book. It is, along with Bill Watterson's complete Calvin & Hobbes, my favourite book.

Don't think I posted any of my pictures from my trip last spring to Virginia.
So here is one.

The "Bloody Angle"  at Spotsylvania Courthouse.  You're looking at a piece of ground where in one day Union and Confederate forces combines suffered about 17,000 casualties--killed, wounded, missing in action or taken prisoner--comparable to the casualties the Allies took on D-Day, except here confinedto the space of about half a mile.  The small ridge is what remains of the Confederate embankment and trenches.

Edit"  I need to learn how to do this.  However,  clicking on the link should take you to the full size picture.

Very nice, Jeffrey.

Regarding how to post stuff from flickr here, choose the BBCode from flickr.

Thank you.  I did use the BBCode, but can't figure out how to size it correctly.

Looking what others did by 'quoting' is cheating, but it's allowed..  8)
Just don't copy the extra spaces...
I didn't size it manually, but I chose the size while choosing the BBCode according to the size I wanted.

Yes, all these intricate patterns with a good bit of contrast are wonderful material for monochromes.
