I generously accepted to give a new home to a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF of NikF.
And you can imagine the outrage when I discovered that he and his girlfriend had plotted to also dump a Nikon F-301 film body and a couple of rolls of film here.  0:)

Excellent! You'll put it to good use, I'm sure.

Sarge

I've taken it out today for the first time for some frosty grass, trees and a pond, and also taken some still-lifes (what could be more exiting than a glass of water on a desk  ::)). I still have the USB cord at my parents so nobody is going to see any of these (or some earlier photos from the past couple of months..) on a computer screen for three weeks from now.

Clearly a cold day, yet with warm light. Good stuff.

From a few years ago -

I always run faster past here.

Taken with an Olympus XA. Excuse the quality of the scan.
This is part of a route I sometimes run early in the mornings. I'm displeased with this photo for a number of reasons, however a woman I was regularly dating at the time saw it and used as a 'cover' for an ebook she had written. I gave her a discount, of course.
"You overestimate my power of attraction," he told her. "No, I don't," she replied sharply, "and neither do you".

Walking back, my fingers and face were certainly well chilled. Thanks.

Regardless of reasons to be displeased, it certainly has a strong mood.

A cool part of the job is working with models or actors or as in this instance, a dancer when everything is still new for them. If you have the time, always firstly get the paying shot in the bag, but don't stop, keep looking, and find their lack of poise, youthful awkwardness, or even simply capture their innocence.

Years later you work with them again, this time shooting them for a dance magazine or something and they're all grown up and saying "Okay, before we start can someone call a taxi for me? Right, you can have fifteen minutes (starting five minutes ago) and I want..."

edit: but almost all the models and dancers and actors I work with are professional and a pleasure and cool.

"You overestimate my power of attraction," he told her. "No, I don't," she replied sharply, "and neither do you".

Good advice. More often than not, the images I considered best (or the most interesting) came at the end of the shoot.

Yes, yes.

This reminds me of the rejected shots (and there are LOTS of them) of Marilyn Monroe by Bert Stern from one of the last photo shoots of Monroe by anyone - turned into art by Marilyn's own crossing out.

Nice show of how many shades of white actually exist.
Thanks, Jeffrey.
I might just have to steel that title...

An overactive imagination, perhaps, but...seriously, I didn't know snow could be so sensual.
