Quote from: Jo498 on October 31, 2024, 04:10:00 AMThe more attractive Schiff recordings seem to be the later ones on Teldec and ECM, I think. And quite a bit of the Decca recordings had been boxed in smaller portions, such as Bach keyboard works or Mozart piano concertos.

Schubert sonatas is another one already boxed up. I have that and the Bach.
Freedom of speech means you get to speak in response to what I said.

Looks like Brilliant have a re-do of their Reger Collection coming in December, with 18 discs compared to the 11 of the original. Appears to have more chamber music and organ works in the new version.

A couple attractive sets.

It's all good...

The Haydn I'd interesting, and the price is not unreasonable.

I'm interested as well, Fey will probably replace Fischer.

Edit: does anyone have a link?

??  I thought Klumpp replaced Fey. Hasn't Fey been incapacitated for years?

I think that what DavidW meant is that Fey (+ Klumpp) will probably replace Fischer in his (David's, that is) collection...

Davies has already replaced Fischer for me. Heidelberger may replace Davies.

Do you have the HIP Haydn symphonies set from Universal? I passed because I find Hogwood dull in classical repertoire.

I believe you mean Dennis Russell Davies...  :)  Nice set, for sure (not that I am by any means an expert).

Duh. I'm lucky my brain didn't pull of Ray Davies. Corrected.

Thanks! Preordered. I skipped that PI Haydn set because I already had the Hogwood set before that bigger box came out.

I was careful to get my preorder in before I posted that link. :)

These posts talking about replacing sets instead of just adding on...
Seems wierd.
This must be a different forum, not GMG. >:D

The replacement is only in my mind, the Fischer set sits happily on a thumb drive with the rest of my flac files.

BTW, there are some good sales in Amazon.fr

I've had a bit of a hankering for the giant Horowitz original jackets box for years. Just bought it for about $80, plus shipping...

I stumbled across this recent release, Wispelwey's complete recordings for Channel Classics.

I didn't notice it being mentioned here. Seems interesting, although it would not be his complete catalog, since he recorded for other labels.

I actually put it in my "basket" a while back, and then noticed that the delivery date was set to be 6 weeks in the future. Being more of the "instant gratification" type, I cancelled it.

Not sure if anyone has posted this but the final Ormandy box is announced for February 2025:

I don't really understand the whole RCA/Columbia/Sony thing that existed in the 50s-80s? so can someone tell me if this box will conclude the gathering all of Ormandy's recordings?

He recorded for Telarc and, I think?, Angel too, right? But those must be very few recordings.
