Welp. A friend who is downsizing gifted me this overwhelming box (120 CDs) of early Eugene Ormandy recordings with The Philadelphia Orchestra. All are in monaural sound, most have never been released on CD, and the contents (here) are enticing. Plus, each recording is packaged with the original cover art (though obviously smaller), and many of those are delightful.

I didn't exactly need this toaster-sized box, but after reading a few reviews of the collection (which came out in 2021), I suspect there are many things here to enjoy.

It would be a big temptation if the price point was lower.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

I got that from Amazon Spain for a price so low I couldn't resist--even though I did not expect to like it much. But I did! It's a great box. Sound is a bit muffled at beginning, but progresses steadily. It has lots of fun little surprises, good standard rep, and a ton of top-tier guests for concertos. I hope you like it as much as I did.
It's all good...
