I can hear you booing! Stop that!   ;D

I don't exactly remember what time of year I dropped off the face of the forum, but I'm sure it was grad school-related. That first year of a MA program, with its many required seminars one must get out of the way before contemplating the thesis, was not conducive to having much time to goof off on the internet. But now it's summer and I have all but one of those required seminars finished, and what better way to procrastinate on thesis work than a forum that's actually about what I'm studying...Yeahh.

So I'm back, and I daresay with a lot more musical knowledge than I had previously, particularly regarding new music and non-Western music (I heart Javanese gamelan!) - and also a few more original pieces.

You may resume your booing now!

I encountered gamelan music years ago and I love it.  I have a substantial collection of non-Western music (quantity-wise, it is competitive with my classical collection).  Perhaps it needs a thread.

Welcome back.

I am delighted to hear from you again, Julian.

Where's your Mahler avatar?

Mahlered

More thanks! I'm glad to be back!

Where's your Mahler avatar?

I'm still undecided on the avatar front. The one I had on the previous board is a pretty old drawing by this point, and I can do better now.

Hey, welcome back.  And count me in that gamelan fan club, too.  ;)

Welcome back.  I still have the Mahler newspaper article that I promised you, but did not have your address.  PM and I will send it out this week.  :)
