Heads will win. Love me some Police though.

Nowhere near as easy for me as the Stones VS. Beatles poll . . . but I found myself behind the wheel of a large automobile . . . .

The Police are a great pop band but the Heads are genius.

I have no quarrel . . . even though Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland have arguably better chops than their counterparts :)

I voted for the Talking Heads, mainly because the Police albums didn't inspire me at all, even though Outlandos d'amour was quite all right. But in all the other cases, I used to think after 3 songs: OK, what's next?

But for having a pint in the pub, I would prefer Sting to Byrne.

No, wait: I would prefer Tina to Sting!

You can make a glorious sound without "chops" IMO.

Sting is probably less flaky than David Byrne, and I don't like to think of that as the difference between excellence & genius  0:)   8)   :)

Well, not without chops, but with lesser chops, sure!

What do you mean "flaky"?

Maybe even without!

San Antone

This was as easy for me as the other poll: Talking Heads.  The Police was a girly band.

:P

He's always struck me as on the borderline of some nervous ailment.

Ah, well, that was part of the charm.

He wonders if he, too, has made a similar mistake . . . .

Talking Heads - Not much worth remembering. The singer's voice is terribly annoying. The Police were far more interesting, though often simplistic lyrics, but then I could say the same about the Beatles for the most part. Can you guess who I voted for?!? :)
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Police > Talking Heads

Sting < David Byrne

Seriously? Talking Heads. No contest.

Plus, unlike Sting (no hard feelings, I like the guy), Byrne's solo output (and his journal) is still worth paying attention to!

And since we're on GMG, check out his forgotten 'classical' album The Forest if you get the chance, gorgeous stuff.
