Ok, if Talking Heads or Devo its too tame...

Swans for me, although I like their 90s and 10s stuff better than their early 80s material

I haven't heard any music with no waves.

I chose Sonic Youth, because I waved at them once.

Sonic Youth for me, as they're the only ones I'm familiar with. I used to like the Residents somewhat, but haven't listened to them in years. I have been previewing Swans on iTunes and like some of their later stuff namely Sountracks for the Blind and The Seer.

Tough choice. My younger self would have to vote for The Residents, because I grew up on them and they shaped my musical / cultural tastes since my early teens.

That said, the last remotely interesting thing they did was the Demons Dance Alone album & tour, while Swans, on the other hand, came back from the dead while kicking their stuff into an even higher gear. The new album is ace, their live act is ace. Swans for me!

I chose Sonic Youth, which was an easy choice for me as I have fond memories sitting with headphones in bed listening to either Daydream Nation or Dirty.

Plus, anyone who can write this song gets extra brownie points!
