I am at the moment filling a HD of 1TB with classical music, (lossless) But this is a old HD from some time ago, and I need more space, so I opt for buying a HD with 2 TB of storage. I will pump over what I already have on the 2TB. I have a computer with the old USB standard, and I copy through Windows media player. Its for my personal use. Any advice about HD would be welcome, in terms of quality and speed. Is there a possibility to get the speed from the new USB connection from my old computer? Is there a better program as Windows to rip my CD quicker? All info about this would be welcome. The fact that I managed to get music on a HD is already quite a feat for me 8)

Cheers

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

You can't receive the benefit of usb 3.0 without both the pc and hd supporting it.  I would just consider your new portable hd as future proof in case you ever upgrade any parts of your pc or the whole thing altogether.

For ripping I like dBpoweramp, it's fast and I know if it's accurate.  What you're currently using should be fine, I just don't like itunes because it is so slow, and if it messes up it not tell you.
