I've been asked (again) to play the lovely oboe solo in Psalm 23 from John Rutter's Requiem, this time for a Good Friday service.  It's one of those pieces that both lays well for the oboe and sounds really nice.  And I've played it several times before.  And I'm getting paid! ;D Is life good or what? :)

Yes, it was!  My only complaint is that I had to wait so long to play, sitting in front of the congregation without a chance to do more than ensure my reed was soaked, that the first note bobbled a bit.  After that, though, it played fine.  (Be glad you only have to deal with one reed at a time!  Double reeds, as you probably know, are more than double the trouble! :P)

So I've always been given to understand!

'Tis true, 'tis true.  But worth the trouble when one gets as many compliments as I on the oboe's sound. 8)

I make no doubt of that at all!
