Acapella Audio Arts High Cellini speakers
Ayon Audio Auris II with phono stage preamp
Ayon Audio Orthos II XS mono blocks power amps
Transrotor Apollon TMD turntable; TR 5012 tonearm
Clearaudio Titanium v2 cartridge
dCS Vivaldi CD/SACD; MSB Premiere DAC (for hi-res files/streaming)
Stax SR-009S/Stax SRM-T8000 headphones/amp
Nordost Tyr 2 speaker cables/interconnects
Solid Tech Reference NOS4 rack and amplifier stands

Congratulations.  Quite a sumptuous system I should say, an no doubt terrific sounding.  As I understand the Acapella High Cellini's have ion tweeters, do they not?

I recently upgraded my Sonic Frontiers Line 1 preamplifier to the "SE+" version.  The SF Line 1 has been out of production for over 20 years but that equipment is still expertly serviced and upgraded by Parts ConneXion located in the Toronto area.  The owner of Parts ConneXion was principal of Sonic Frontiers before they sold out to Anthem.

Yes, I think the SE+ finesses the basic attributes of the basic Line 1.  See before & after pics ...

Thank you. Yes, ion tweeters, so there's really no mass at all.

Well, it's the brain that tell you what the ears detect. And the brain is an extremely subjective organ. I don't believe for a second that any absolutte senses exist, not in smell, taste, reaction to pain (why can people be hypnotized to not feel pain?) or anything. It's all prosessed by the brain.

Of course there are differences in sound - or in wine for that matter - and the basis can be understood pretty well as in acid in wine or freqency respons in sound, but for the finer nuances there are always a not particularly reliable, subjective element.

+1. There is no sound outside human sense. There are only waves, that touch eardrums.

Update for me.  I moved and in the new room the stereo sounds awful! :o

That hardwood floor.  I am receiving an area rug today and corresponding pad.  Between that and speaker positioning I hope to make my stereo sound good again.

Uh, oh!  Good luck getting everything squared away!  What kind of shape and size is your listening room?  Would some sort of audio diffusing panels/treatments on your walls help or not an option?  Is your partner a big music lover?

The sound is good now.  The area rug and positioning did the trick.  Now time for some Shostakovich!
