I've heard of his "Pines of Rome" (and the rest of the triptych), but I've never heard it. I probably should at some point ...  :D

I just heard it. Very beautiful, but very sad. I've heard some Part before (forgot which) and am impressed (for whatever that's worth) by his lyricism. I'm listening to the Piston again to cheer me up.

Part, for me, is cut from a very different cloth than the American Minimalists like Riley, Glass, and Reich IMHO. Much more European and 'classical'.

Btw, I am one of the very few who agree with you, I like Jeux more than La Mer.
