Rinaldo

Any fans here? Or maybe I should be asking any fans of his recent work? I'm one. He's got a new album coming out in October, a collaboration with the drone metal priests Sunn O))). And judging by the snippet that's been published today, it might turn out to be quite the thing:

The name of the record puzzles me: soused means neighbour in Czech. I wonder what's the connection.

Pretty cool!

Archaic Torso of Apollo

For a moment I thought this was about the governor of Wisconsin.

Me too! Last thing we need is discussions of politicians ...

Please tell me there are no musicians named Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton ...  ;)

It was once a slang term for being drunk,  but long enough back in time to be definitely old fashioned.

I didn't know Farmer in the City. That's fantastic!

This one is a jewel, isn't it?

I suggest you check out Walker's recent albums:

The material is quite a challenge at times but I suspect you might be up for it.

I just want Sunn 0))) to start releasing a full-length studio album again already. It's been 5 years...

Oh yes. I'm up for it. Yes, I just bought Tilt. I didn't even know Walker still existed! Listening to Tilt now, I find it brilliant and inspiring.

Rinaldo

I've spent two weeks with the new album, prepping a review, and the music is surprisingly easy to digest. It's dark but nowhere near the botomless pit of anguish that Walker delved into on his previous solo efforts. His singing is top notch and beautifully recorded as well.

And it's good, really good. Recommended for both Sunn O))) and contemporary music fans.

I think Scott 3 is his best album.

NorthNYMark

I haven't heard the Sunn-O collaboration yet, but I REALLY enjoy his more recent, avant approach (nad, to a lesser extent, his earlier work). I wish more artists would follow his lead in becoming more adventurous with age, rather than the opposite.

Rinaldo

Scott Walker has left the building, aged 76.

I'm going through his discography again and once more I'm amazed by the sheer scope of his talent. The Quietus has re-published some excellent features on Walker's shockingly varied output throughout the years.

One of the all-time greats. Have a good one on the other side, sir.
