British conductor Frank Shipway dies (1935-2014)

Frank Shipway died following a car accident. Not a well known figure perhaps but there is a fine recording of him conducting Mahler's 5th Symphony and Shostakovich's 10th Symphony both with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Apparently he could be very difficult to work with and, behind his back, was known as 'Frank S***way' by some orchestral players.

There is a final (?) recording coming in October, Walton's cello concerto with soloist Christian Poltera. BIS label.

Thank you, yes it read that. Should be worth looking out for
