What?

Quote from: prémont on September 21, 2024, 10:02:00 AMIndeed, this is likely what I shall do after listening to the recordings in question several times.

It should be illuminating.

So, then, why did you instead weirdly resurrect a thread with nothing to say?  Surely, it would make sense to listen to a sub-par cycle multiple times, as you apparently plan to do, and offer detailed comments when resurrecting the thread.  That would still be weird, just less weird.

And by the way, how many cycles are you up to now?  I remember for a while you used to collect them, but you stopped at a certain point.  Now you have opted to fixate on Bouboulidi while there are no doubt better cycles out there that you have not heard.  Again, weird.

Well, if we're all done now whipping Todd for making a single mistake in a 6600-word review that he wrote ten years ago...  :blank:

It is clear that a certain contingent of posters here assign some type of pseudoacademic standard to my posts when reading them.  They clearly have missed the entire point this whole time.

About ninety cycles - including Gilels, Arrau II and Gieseking.

In my experience almost every cycle has something to offer, yet there are times when one may end up disappointed, even with a well-regarded reputation. For instance, Pienaar, Øland, Schiff, and Kuerti do not appeal to my tastes.

I don't do that. However, I believe Todd's critique of Bouboulidi's Beethoven cycle is overly harsh. It was only recently that I had the chance to listen to some of the cycle.

Unironically, this is a perfect metaphor for this forum. Lol.

Man, I love that movie.  Still have fond memories of seeing it at the theater when it was fresh and new.  I miss Mr Toombs.  He lived on and off in Hillsboro near where my paternal grandparents lived, and he's buried locally.  Maybe I should pay my respects in person.

Well, my name isn't (poco) Sforzando, so there!

But I do know for a fact that Brian's name is Brian, and Karl's is Karl, and Luke's is Luke.
