What is your favorite Hartmann symphony?

8 > 6 > 3 > the rest

I might have liked 7 as well, but I don't think it made as much of an impression.

No. 6 is obviously the best but I listen to 8 more often, and its aesthetic appeals a bit more. (Also: no Sinfonia Tragica or Symphonie L'œuvre? ~_^)

I'm inclined to agree with you about Symphony No. 6, but I really enjoy them all. Sinfonia Tragica and Symphonie L'oeuvre don't count here as both works contain material that were reused in Symphony No. 3 and Symphony No. 6 respectively. Plus, I only know of one recording of Sinfonia Tragica (Janowski) and don't know of any of Symphonie L'oeuvre.
