A new 'human' piano is unveiled in Budapest

Thoughts? I wonder how this beast sounds. Looks like something straight out of a Cronenberg movie.

I predict that,  independent of the qualities of this instrument, those who claim that bigger is better or that any advancement is an inherent improvement, will one day long back for the sound of a late (once upon a time, "modern") Steinway grand. :D

I see new HIPpies in the making! >:D

Now seriously, it is interesting to note that the inventor of this instrument actually aimes to recreate the way a piano sounded in the  early19th century. I guess in his opinion (and mine) we somewhere strayed from the right path??  ::) Food for thought....

I listened to parts of every track of the sample CD online (it has full works!), and the sound is big and bright and resonant, but how much is the piano and how much is the recording?  At least online and through headphones, it really does no favors for Bach or Mozart or Debussy, and the Bartok sounds bad, but is that the piano or pianist?  The Liszt sounds intriguing, though.

I'd like to hear a world class pianist play something meaty on this - Liszt's Dante Sonata comes immediately to mind, as does 106.  Tony Faulkner should be the engineer.
