Very sad news in the jazz world. I've always loved Terry's trumpet playing and he will be sorely missed. He was also quite an influential player with Miles Davis citing Terry as an influence on his own playing.

The most beautiful jazz trumpet sound ever.

Who also cut some fantastic albums. I just love Serenade To A Bus Seat. There was an album he made of nothing but ballads titled Clark After Dark that remains a firm favorite. On this particular album, he played flugelhorn.

Very sad news, indeed. Great tone and technique. Not bad at scattin', either.

I missed this completely.  Clark Terry seemed like an eternal figure.  As a little boy he could have heard the Hot Fives and Sevens when they were first pressed.  He was just a little younger than Bird and Diz, and yet remained with us until now.
It's all good...
