That's a lot to choose from, so you get two votes. I'm putting aside individual pieces like L'Isle Joyeuse and limiting it to his books of pieces.

There IS a lot to choose from. I had to choose the Études and Book 1 of the Preludes. Children's Corner, both books of the Images and Book 2 of the Preludes were not far behind. (I note that you did not split the Études into two separate books...)

I also chose the Etudes and Preludes Bk. 1.  Funny that the OP has not voted yet.

I cannot speak for the OP, but I often wait to vote when I post a poll so as not to bias it in some way.

I voted for Images 1 and Children's Corner. I find the etudes hard to just listen to.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

I did that because I believe they were composed all at once as one cohesive set. The Preludes and Images books, by contrast, were both written two years apart from each other.

Since it's Debussy's 150th birthday (and I was bored), here's my top ten of his solo piano pieces.

1. La cathédrale engloutie
2. Etude pour les arpèges composés
3. Bruyères
4. Hommage à Rameau
5. La fille aux cheveux de lin
6. Etude pour les accords
7. Reflets dans l'eau
8. La soirée dans Grenade
9. Sarabande
10. Etude pour les sonorités opposées

"Javert, though frightful, had nothing ignoble about him. Probity, sincerity, candor, conviction, the sense of duty, are things which may become hideous when wrongly directed; but which, even when hideous, remain grand."

- Victor Hugo
