I haven't heard the 1985 recording until I spotted the two last copies of this in my store. It was cheaper than the normal 1985 recording (irony) so what the heck, grab it.

This package has the CD plus the Behind The Scenes DVD and they're bundled inside a "book" album, which contains tons of colorful pictures and commentaries.

Heard the whole recording, thought every cast, orchestra and interpretation was perfect...save for two obvious imperfections in leading casts. Carreras' diction was awful, although his opening "Maria" number was very moving. Kiri Te Kanawa is too operatic. Despite that, this is a must grab! Since it's Special Editions, better rob, grab or steal when you spot one.

I value the DVD more than I do the CD of this recording. The behind the scene part is excellent.

I know Lenny loved Kiri's rendition, but personally I did not. Also, I did not mind Jose's diction problem as most people.
